Nyungwe Canopy Walk, Waterfall Hike & Tea Experience (2 Days)

The minimum age is 6 years old. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

It is considered a non-strenuous hike. The trail to and from the suspended bridge is on a path of moderate difficulty, but it is suitable for beginners and families with children aged 6 and up.

The bridge is 160 meters long and hangs 70 meters above the forest floor.

Wear sturdy, waterproof hiking boots and bring a raincoat, as rain is common. Long-sleeved shirts and long pants are recommended to protect against insects and vegetation. It’s also a good idea to carry bottled water, and hiking sticks are available for free at the Uwinka Reception Centre.

The Canopy Walk experience, including the guided hike to and from the bridge, typically takes around 2 hours. 

The Isumo Trail is considered moderately challenging. It is about 10.6 kilometers long and takes 3 to 4 hours to complete.

While not strictly enforced for all trails, the Isumo Waterfall hike is generally not recommended for very young children due to the duration and variable terrain.

 Essentials include a raincoat, at least two liters of water, and proper hiking shoes.

A typical experience includes a guided tour of a tea plantation, such as the Gisakura Tea Estate. Visitors can learn about the harvesting and processing of tea, and a tasting session.

es, Nyungwe is considered very safe for visitors. All guided activities are accompanied by armed rangers.

The dry seasons (June to August and December to February) are best for trekking, as the trails are less muddy. However, the wet seasons offer a lush, vibrant forest.
