Stay Local. Feel at Home.

The Local Homestay Network Initiative is designed to connect travelers with authentic Rwandan families, especially women-led households to offer an authentic, meaningful, and sustainable travel experience. It started with a simple act of hospitality: welcoming travelers into a family home in Musanze. That warmth inspired a bigger vision to help more women and families open their homes, share their culture, and benefit from community-based tourism.
Through training in hospitality, customer service, hygiene, food preparation and tour guiding, mentorship; and infrastructure and marketing support, this initiative empowers women to become confident hosts, local guides, and small business owners. Guests who stay in these homes experience the real Rwanda: home-cooked meals, local traditions, storytelling, music, and everyday life. They don’t just see Rwanda — they feel it.
This is tourism that uplifts. Every stay generates income for local families, strengthens community bonds, and encourages the preservation of Rwanda’s cultural and natural heritage, and warm spirit of hospitality.

Where Do You Want to Go?
Across Rwanda, our growing network of homestay connects travelers with warm, welcoming families, each offering an authentic window into local life. Every village tells its own story, and every host family opens their home with pride, kindness, and a touch of Rwandan spirit.
🦍 Musanze (Northern Province) – The birthplace of our initiative and home to our first homestay. Surrounded by volcanoes and the Twin Lakes, Musanze invites travelers to immerse themselves in nature, culture, and heartfelt hospitality. Share family meals, embark on scenic hikes, and experience the vibrant rhythm of Rwandan life.
🏙️ Kigali (City of a Thousand Hills) – A vibrant hub of creativity, innovation, and tradition. Our capital city hosts share the beauty of Rwandan daily life, from preparing local dishes to exploring local markets and neighborhood stories that connect visitors with the spirit of modern Rwanda.
🦒 Kayonza (Eastern Province, near Akagera National Park) – A gateway to Rwanda’s only savannah park, Kayonza offers a rare mix of wildlife and community life. Staying with local families here allows guests to explore Akagera’s beauty while supporting women and youth working to create sustainable livelihoods through tourism and conservation.
🙏 Kibeho (Southern Province) – Known as Rwanda’s Holy Land, Kibeho is a place of deep spirituality and community strength. Travelers can visit sacred pilgrimage sites and Nyungwe National Park while contributing to meaningful initiatives such as the community library, youth language club, and women’s pottery cooperative.
Future Expansions – We’re working to grow our network to new regions across Rwanda, empowering more women and youth to benefit from tourism while offering travelers authentic, meaningful, and unforgettable experiences.
